The Region
Pocri; in the province of Los Santos is perfectly situated between the quaint and tourist friendly town of Pedasi (13 miles/22 kilometers) to the south, the center of major annual events such as Carnival and Mil Polleras with supermarkets and shopping at Las Tablas (13 miles/22 kilometers) to the north, mountain villages, hiking and sightseeing to the east and, only 2 miles down the gravel frontage road to the west, you’ll find Playa Los Bajaderos – a two mile stretch of tranquility, sand, usually calm seas and rarely used by others! I was recently (March 2019) enjoying a swim in the Pacific ocean and checked the temperature - Outside air-86°, Water temperature-86°! Cooler, the further out you go, but BATH water near the shore. Further south from ‘your own private beach’ is the small fishing village of La Concepcion/La Yeguada, a ‘suburb’ you could say of Pocri where locals gather for family fun and fresh fish.
While the weather in this region consists of 2 seasons – rainy season (generally, June through December) and dry season (January through May), temperatures tend to remain comfortably warm at 70-90 degrees year-round (day and night!). There are cooling breezes from January and into March making the onset of “summer” enjoyable while the gardens remain green from the recent “winter” rains.
